Recap: Keep Texas Waterways Clean Event

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the City of League City hosted the 2024 Keep Texas Waterways Clean Event. It was held on the West end of the Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Clear Creek Nature Center, as well as the League City Public Boat Ramp. We had 41 volunteers of all ages participate in the event. 54 bags of trash were collected, as well as other large objects such as lumber, outdoor chairs, cable boxes, and tires. More than 700 pounds of trash and debris were gathered during the event.

The Keep Texas Waterways Clean Program provides support and supplies for waterway cleanups across the state of Texas. These events can take place year-round in any waterway including oceans, rivers, lakes, streams, tributaries, bayous, and creeks. Keep Texas Waterways Clean is a program to support the efforts of Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates. The City of League City is one of those affiliates by way of the Keep League City Beautiful Committee. This event is part of the Keep League City Beautiful initiative. Keep League City Beautiful is a committee that seeks to improve League City through beautification, conservation, and the arts.
